A Surprise view ... The aurora activity was quite strong this night, so after finishing my shift at work I looked to the Met office page & saw that Keswick was the only place near enough with clear skies ... So off I headed on a 200 mile round trip, fingers crossed that the activity would keep going until I arrived. Keswick was blanketed in low cloud-mist so I headed up to surprise view near Ashiness bridge, fingers crossed that it would be high enough to see over the clouds ... This was the scene that greeted me once I arrived ... A cloud inversion over the lake - the Milky way strongly visible over towards Catbells & the last of the aurora activity glowing above Keswick & Skiddaw. I managed to get this panorama consisting of 10 portrait images just before the higher cloud rolled in & covered the whole scene from view ... Info :- iso 6400 - 10 seconds - 24mm - f2.8 - 10 x images joined into a panorama.
